Coming September 2019…Own Your Dream
LAAPA is hard at work developing its Professional Teen Conservatory, set to launch September 2019.
Our Professional Teen Conservatory (PTC) is a two-year certificate program for students with serious aspirations to become professional performers and leaders in the theatre arts.
PTC students are thoroughly prepared to pursue undergraduate degrees for admittance into top-tier college theatre programs. Other PTC students may wish to launch their professional endeavors while training or immediately upon graduation. We support both paths and offer connections and opportunities to ensure our conservatory students have the smoothest transition into the working world of the performing arts.
Students will immerse themselves in vigorous training that fuses the voice, body, and imagination into a powerful instrument of artistic expression. As students are developing their skills as actors, singers, and dancers, they will also be learning dramatic structure, text analysis, and storytelling techniques to create a process by which to prepare for an audition or role. Students will perform material from contemporary and classical playwrights and composers.
A cornerstone of LAAPA’s training is the Leaders in Training (LIT) program in which outstanding second-year students will be assigned to mentor first-year students in their development as young professionals. Mentors are chosen by the faculty.
Teens ages 16-18 accepted into the conservatory can choose from two tracks: Acting and Musical Theatre. An audition and interview are required for admittance.
