Policies

Please read our policies carefully before filling out the Academy application.

The performing arts are, by nature, a collaborative process. Each person brings his or her unique talents to every class, rehearsal, and performance, and is dependent on the others to make every project successful. The Los Angeles Academy of Performing Arts seeks to reinforce in its students what will be expected of them in a professional setting, and therefore our policies are strict but fair.

Expectations of Conduct for Academy/Junior Academy Students

  • Be in the classroom, in proper attire, and ready to work at the start of every class.
  • Strive to do your best no matter the circumstances.
  • Start each class with a positive attitude, an eagerness to learn, and a curious mind.
  • Come to classes and rehearsals prepared. All assigned homework and practice sessions should be completed to the best of your ability.
  • Treat yourself, your fellow students, and the teachers, with upmost respect.
  • Ask the teachers questions if something is not understood, or when you seek a deeper understanding of the material.
  • Assume responsibility for your actions and words. Don’t blame others.
  • Support and encourage the learning process of fellow students.
  • Have an ownership mentality in regards to the Academy. Be proud and respectful of where you train.
  •  Don’t litter.
  • Don’t gossip.
  • Take the skills you learn in the Academy and carry them into all areas of your life.
  • Maintain your integrity wherever you go. Never bad-mouth yourself, your teachers, the Academy, or your fellow students.
  • Express yourself truthfully. If a problem arises, talk to the Academy Director. All inquiries will be dealt with in a sensitive and timely manner.

6. Any student caught stealing will be immediately dismissed from the Academy.
