Richard Kinsey – (Guest) Musical Theatre, Acting

Richard is probably best known for his performances as Inspector Javert in Les Miserables, for which he was the recipient of the Joseph Jefferson Award For Best Supporting Actor. He starred in the Broadway, National and International Touring Companies, and performed the role over two thousand times.

Other recent theatrical roles include: Brocklehurst/Mason in the world premiere of Jane Eyre, Bill Sykes in Oliver!, Adam in Seven Brides, Fred/Petruchio in Kiss Me Kate, Don Quixote in Man Of LaMancha, Phantom in Phantom, Father in Ragtime, Caiphas in JC Superstar, Tony & Joey in Most Happy Fella, Pirate King in Pirates Of Penzance, Johnny in Unsinkable Molly Brown, Sir Harry in Once Upon A Mattress, Father in the world premiere of Violet, Quincy Morris in the world premiere of Dracula, A Musical Nightmare, General Rommel in the world premier of Among The Chosen Few, and Adam Brant in Mourning Becomes Electra, to mention only a few. He has also been involved with staged readings of new works with such companies as Playwrights Horizons NYC, The York Theatre Company NYC, and Disney/ASCAP New Musicals Program in Los Angeles. Richard also enjoys performing classical music and has been a featured soloist and performer in such works as: St Matthew Passion, Beethoven 9th, Carmina Burana, The Messiah, Brahms Requiem, The Merry Widow, The Barber Of Seville, Carmen, and The Tales Of Hoffman. He attended the opera apprenticeship programs of: Opera Pacific, San Diego Opera and Dayton Opera. Richard’s first love is performing on the stage, but he can be found in supporting film roles in such recent releases as: Making Waves, Hell’s City, The Seer, Believe, The Sacrifice, and Good Friday.

Richard attended CSU At Fullerton and currently teaches several classes at the Orange County High School Of The Arts. Other awards he has received are: The Metropolitan Opera Encouragement Award, Virginia Best Adams Singing Award and the ASCAP Award For Popular Composition for the score of Robin Hood, The Musical. Richard’s greatest inspirations are his wife, soprano, Susan Montgomery and their daughter Zoe.
