Hinton Battle – (Guest) Musical Theatre, Dance

Hinton began studies at the renowned Jones and Haywood School of Ballet at the age of nine. Four years later he received a Ford Foundation Scholarship to attend the premiere ballet school, School of American Ballet in New York City, under the direction of George Balanchine.

Hinton made his Broadway debut at 16 as The Scarecrow in the history making, The Wiz.Hinton’s other Broadway shows include Dancin’, Dreamgirls, Sophisticated Ladies for which he won his first Tony Award, Billy Flynn in Chicago, and Coalhouse Walker Jr. in Ragtime. His role in TheTap Dance Kid earned Hinton a second Tony Award, the NAACP Award and the Fred Astaire Award, and his role as John in Miss Saigon earned Hinton his third Tony Award.

His stage, film, and television Director and Choreographer credits include Dancin’ With the Stars, Idlewild, The Academy Awards, The Shirley Temple Story, WB Promos, Sister/Sister, The Golden Globes, Evil Dead, and The Marvelous Wonderettes.
